What a great day for the New River! Well done everyone! For the North Carolina portion, we ended up with13 volunteers picking up 520 pounds of trash and 6 tires. Two of the clean ups scheduled were postponed to this weekend due to threat of weather. NRC is so humbled by the ReNew the New effort and proud to have contributed in NC and WV this year. We can’t wait til next year. Thank you all for every single thing you do for this river we love,Lisa Galitz – New River Conservancy
Saturday morning, driving to Paul’s, I passed a row of county trucks hauling racks of canoes—all of us crowding the narrow road on a glorious Saturday morning, when we’d been expecting rain. New River’s Edge was a bustle of focused Giles County staff and eager volunteers—river low but spirits high. …Our river is clean, my friends. A proud thing. The lunches were delicious, the t-shirts soft and flashy and–from all I saw—the very complicated logistics ran oily smooth. A huge and resounding shout out to the staff! All these years and I still shake my head in wonder at the talent and dedication of these good people giving their Saturdays to Fall Into The New; Jesse, Taylor, Billie, ETC. Charlie is The Man! Charlie & Chris kudos, kudos! ReNew The New Committee, I love working with us and I love our work. Thanks & praise all around.Ann Geotte – Renew the New Committee
